Google Chrome: Google’s new Web Browser

Google Chrome

You can almost bet that when Google get’s behind something, there’s a reason. So it’s not a huge surprise that Google released the Beta version of their web browser, Google Chrome. Which I’m sure has much of the technology developed by and for Mozilla Firefox.

Google dumped a truckload of cash into the Firefox development, and now we can probably guess why.

Chrome.

So today I downloaded the Google Chrome Beta (ever notice that everything “Google” is “Beta”??? Gmail is still a “Beta” as well, and it’s been in use forever….)

At either rate, today I downloaded Google Chrome to give it a test drive. And I have to say, it’s pretty darn cool. I’ve been using it for about half an hour and it was impressive enough to be today’s blog post.

So what’s so cool about it? One word. FAST!

Google Chrome is smoking fast. By far the fastest web browser I’ve ever seen. Beyond that, it’s got some other great features. When you open the browser it shows you thumbnails of your most frequented sites, which is definitely handy for me. Everything in Chrome is tabbed, very similar to Firefox 3.0, but with a much simpler layout and design.

All in all, everything about Google Chrome screams lightweight.

The one negative I saw right from the beginning with Chrome is with CSS issues and how it displays certain pages. The blog here at Business Blogs shows up terribly, with a huge white background that shouldn’t, and isn’t there with Internet Explorer 7 or with Firefox 3.0 or any other widely used browser we have tested.

But these issues are to be expected. None of the sites, including this one, were built to display well in Chrome, because it didn’t exist until just the other day. So we’ll check out the CSS schema and adjust it accordingly in order to have our sites display properly for Chrome too. Which we are already suggesting to our clients, now. If you have a website or blog, you need to test and see how it looks in the new Google Chrome Browser. If it doesn’t look right you’re going to want to have somebody make the proper code adjustments for you.

Why? Because Google Chrome is going to be huge. Stop and think for a minute about just how big this browser is going to be. It was built and is being promoted by Google. On their home page. You know that millions of users are going to snap it up.

So if you need a coder that can make the proper code adjustments for your website or blog to display properly in Google Chrome, give our office a call. We can fix you up.

    Google Chrome: Google Chrome Sucks……..

Google Chrome Sucks. Or does it? Take a peak at our first look at Google Chrome and decide for yourself. Does Google Chrome suck, or not?…

I have been reading some today and there does look as if there are a few security issues with Google Chrome that users should be aware of.

You can read more about it by clicking:

Don’t panic though. It’s a new piece of software. New software always has bugs to work out. So don’t put too much stock in the whole “sky is falling” stuff you’ll read about the security holes in Google Chrome.

I would like to hear your feedback on this browser. So if you are trying chrome out, post a comment in this thread please.
