Waiting to Post an Article
I was talking with a client this morning and he made a comment about waiting to make a blog post.
When I asked him why, he answered that he wanted to have the post for tomorrow, so that he could continue his daily posting. To which I responded, so what else are you doing today? His response was that he wasn’t doing much of anything.
So I’m wondering exactly why wait until tomorrow to make this post. Especially if it’s already written, which in this case I believe that the post was. Is it the fear of writing? Possibly drawing a blank when it comes time for tomorrow’s blog post?
Maybe. In all fairness, it might also be that my client knows he’ll be extremely busy tomorrow. In which case, he’s thinking clearly and planning ahead. Keeping that steady flow of content going that I always preach about.
But it did start me thinking about my posting habits and how sometimes I hold onto ideas. Planning on tomorrow’s blog post here at business blogs, rather than posting it today when it’s fresh in my head. I also want to keep a regular flow of posts going here, so I often hold off when deep down I know I have a few minutes that I could be writing.
Which I know is even more powerful. Remember a week or so ago when we covered the most successful blogs from the Technorati report? Let me refresh your memory. What it came down to was that the most visited blogs had bloggers that were making as many as ten blog posts per day.
So if we want to be one of the top blogs, it’s common sense to deduce that we should do what successful bloggers do. Which is blog more often.
So my new resolution is to make an effort to not hold my blog post ideas for the next day. If I have time to write them, I’m going to make the effort. As I hope you do with your company blog too.
Waiting to post your blog article is like Waiting for Godot…. Unless you’ve got a really good reason to wait, there’s no time like the present to get that post out there for the world to see.
After all, your readers are waiting to see what you’re going to write next.
Right?
