Business Blogging Topics
At first glance, it appears that a business owner or employee could write about the company forever. Oh, if it were only true. The fact is, writing the company blog each day is repetitious, and tough. Especially after the first month or two has passed.
So today I wanted to go over a few blogging basics to help you through the rough spots. You know what I mean…. Those days when you open your text editor and see that gaping white hole begging for words, yet nothing will come.
1. Services
Yeah, I know it sounds like something that should be a no brainer, but have your really covered EVERY service your company offers? How about the services you no longer offer? Perhaps you’ve stopped offering a product or service for a very good reason and your customers might want to know why. Another angle on services might be to toss out ideas for new stuff. If you have a blog following, writing about potential services could give much needed feedback and help you decide if it is in fact something you should add.
2. Employees
Have you written about your staff? Not just in general, but in a personal way. Have you mentioned Jimmy Zuckerman in shipping? Have you gone over what his job entails? People want to deal with people. If they have to deal with Jimmy someday, they know who to go to. It also makes your company much more personal to them and can help them off the fence when deciding to buy from you.
3. How To Guides
Writing about what you do and telling your clients how it’s done is often seen as taboo. But understand, knowing how something is done and actually doing it are two very different things. I understand how to build a computer from scratch, but that doesn’t mean I don’t purchase a new computer when needed. Nope, I still run down to Best Buy or Tiger Direct when it’s time for a new box. The same goes for your clients. They really do want to know how things are done but they most likely won’t replace you when it’s time to buy.
4. How it all Began
Did your company sprout from humble beginnings? Did you trip on a garden rake when you were 12 and decide that a life working outside was right for you? Tell the story to your readers. Once again it adds a human flavor to your company. People love stories of success, so tell them yours.
5. Tell them the Plan, Stan
What direction do you have planned for your company? Are you going to be moving to a new city, building a new store in another country? Maybe you’re just adding some new personnel. People love to see growth, it gives them a sense of confidence and helps build trust. They want to know they are dealing with a company that’s going to be there in the future. Growth often sends them this signal.
Once again, it all comes down to content. These are just a few suggestions to help you keep that content coming. At the end of the day, we’re all trying to get more info about our business into those search engine result pages. That and get more clients interested about us. This is what business blogging is all about.
The content is all around you, and there really is an endless supply of things you can write about you, your company, and it’s products or services.
So go on, write about it!

What most business blogs fail to do is include enough content. When seeing a site that’s supposed to introduce me to what a company is all about — I want to be introduced to what a company is all about.
Great guide, cheers!
