Local Search Optimization and Blogging
Owning a local web design company, I receive lots of questions from area companies. One of the most common questions I get is how blogging can help a local company build it’s clientele and overall sales.
Actually, it’s pretty simple. Because all that really needs to be done is a change in the overall blogging plan. Using more of a homespun feel and focusing on topics that contain local terms. Starting with the name of the town or city.
For many companies this is ultra important. Let me give you an example.
An insurance company in Austin, Texas is looking to build their client list. But they are already pretty busy with the clients they have. They don’t have the resources or the notion to start to take on clients that are not in their area. Maybe because they specialize in a certain area that only caters to local people, or whatever. The reason is not important. They have decided that they only want to pick up new clients in Austin….
But general blogging and general search engine optimization really doesn’t suit them. What they need are those people doing searches for terms containing words that identify them as local users. The obvious would be any insurance search containing the word “Austin”. Surprisingly enough, there are thousands of people searching this way for insurance in Austin, each and every month.
So, by blogging with this in mind, we can do two things. First, we can identify ourselves and a local firm. One of the gang, so to say. Secondly, over time, our blog posts will float to the top for a truckload of search phrases that target exactly who we want to target. Those precious local searchers.
It all comes back to the blogging plan we speak so much about here. Without direction, without a plan, it’s hard to get anywhere. Because you don’t have any idea of where you want to go. But with a solid, WRITTEN marketing plan, you can and will take your blog to new levels. You will build local clients and overall sales.
