I agree, great post for the outline of blog flipping. If you are interested in going down to more detail, I recommend the Blog Flipping Formula. This gets to the technical details of creation, optimizing for traffic, and how/where to sell (if your end game is to flip).

I agree above that the stats really need to be there if you want a serious return. However, it is harder for blogs because so much more of the appeal comes from the webmaster than other sites.

Given the passive income value of an established site, I agree that the 12 months earnings is ideal but I see most good ones go for around 9 months. The value really comes from how well you market and what alternatives are available on the auction sites (SitePoint is my favorite). I rarely see a site sell for what the “appraised” value is.

Brandon, from the brokers I’ve spoken to, yes. 12 months seems to be the standard when calculating value. There might be exceptions to this rule, but that’s what I’ve gleaned thus far.

Just some words about WebAlizer…

I don’t like very much.
It’s rather good and does’t cost anything.
BUT:
1) the stats it gives is incorrect very often
2) some logs of WA are ref spamed, what may cause even DDOS of the site

But its not difficult to tune WA that way so it will work correctly!
