What are they looking for?
What are your potential readers looking for?
Are you sure you know? Sure, you know the basics because you are most likely monitoring your statistics. So you know what they are looking for to get to your site NOW. But you already have those listings and have covered those topics.
What are the potential users you are NOT getting looking for? Equally important, how can you find them?
Sometimes as a professional, it’s easy to think that we know all the answers and know exactly how each and every one of our users will find us. We make keyword lists based on our experiences and the history of our business or our blog, but have we covered all of the ‘good stuff’? Odds are, no.
So we have to look for those good terms and the questions people ask regarding our service or product.
One method to find some of these new readers is by searching the answers sites online. Yahoo Answers is a really great place to start. Hop over there and put in your main term and see what you come up with. You might just be surprised at some of the questions you find. Additionally, it’s a great opportunity to build more traffic to your site because you are the expert in your field. You can now answer the question or questions and link back to your site.
Getting selected as the best answer will land you some traffic, a good inbound link, and some new ideas for future blog posts. It shows you as the authority in your field for the people that view the page.
Overall, everybody wins.
There’s not just one answer site either. There are a ton of them. Do a little research, answer the questions you can answer, and make notes about the topics. Go back to your site and review your list. See if you have covered all the topics you found.
I bet you haven’t.
Think outside the box when shaping your business blog. Build a true resource for your users and become the best known expert in your field. You can do this all online. With just a little research.
