Should your company website consider adding a blog
Should you add a blog to your site?
Now of course most of you are going to think my answer is a solid, “yes”, to each and every company that asks me this question.
But I may surprise you here. Because the answer is not always yes.
Let me ‘splain Lucy…
Yes, your website can ALWAYS benefit from new content and gradual site growth. Old or new, at the top of the search listings or at the bottom, your site can benefit from a blog.
If…
If you add content to it. If you regularly add content to your business blog it will help your site. Period. The flip side of this coin is if you don’t add content. It won’t hurt your site in the eyes of the engines, but it will hurt your site in the eyes of your customers and potential customers. Because they see a site that is not updated, not maintained. In their eyes, your company really doesn’t care about updating much. And if your business doesn’t care about updating, that is paying attention to your website, how much attention will you pay to your customers??
It’s basic psychology my friends. If they see your blog has current information and gets regular attention, they will see that THEY will likely get regular attention. If they see a blog that hasn’t been updated for a year and contains out of date material, and / or comments from other clients that have gone unanswered, they will move on. They want to see fresh activity. They want to see that you are on top of things.
On top of ALL things when it comes to your business. When it comes to the product or service you and your website provide.
So no, it’s not always a good idea for a business to add a blog to their website. One of the first questions I ask when consulting a company about a blog addition is if they have the time or the budget to consistently maintain the blog. If they do not want to post to that blog or do not want to hire one of our professional blog writers, then there are times when I tell them that it’s not a good idea.
Don’t just add a blog. Become a blogger. Become a business blogger. Your bottom line will thank you.

if it makes sense for home business entrepreneurs, it should be even more important for brick & mortar businesses. Tell them you stand behind you work. Tell them you guarantee completion!
if necessary, give examples.
