Blog Definition: Writer or Pro Blogger?
What is the difference between a professional blogger and a writer? Can’t someone be both?
Yes, they can.
But there are differences between the two. Bloggers are almost all writers, with the exception of some photo and multimedia bloggers. But not all writers can be bloggers. At least they can’t be professional bloggers in my opinion.
Because blogging is more than writing. It’s interacting with your readers. If it’s a business blog, it’s handling customer service, good or bad. It’s sales ability. It’s more.
More than just being a writer. Because a writer simply writes. He or she doesn’t have to worry about what Joe Reader thinks too much. Because Joe Reader isn’t going to be able to post a comment that’s negative three minutes after a writer publishes a book or column.
But readers certainly can react negatively to a blog post, and quickly. A bad piece of content can cross the internet like a sonic boom crosses the desert, and can impact you and your business extremely fast. Not so with most regular writers.
So if you’re a successful pro blogger, be proud of the skills you possess. Not every writer has them.
