Boring or helpful?

Sometimes business blogs are really boring. Other times they are really helpful. Most of the time they are kind of a mix of both to be totally honest.

Let’s face it. It is hard to write a company blog day in and day out. After the first month, it starts feeling a bit monotonous and redundant. One of the things that happens to some professional bloggers at this point is that they start to try to predict what their readers might want to read.

They put on their Amazing Kreskin hats and try to base their blog posts on their visions each day. But how can they know what their potential customers want to read?

The answer is that they don’t. Because by second guessing the daily writings some basic points for your company and for your business get missed. Every day does NOT have to be exciting and thrilling for a business blog. In fact, after a while, many of your readers will get bored with it.

No, what they want are details. About you and about your company. They want to know how your business works, about daily processes like shipping and product availability. About service and any issues that might arise there. They want meat.

So give them what they want. What is boring to you might just be helpful to your readers. AKA your potential clients or buyers. Every day is not going to be a home run when it comes to blog posting. Far from it. But over time you’re going to hit a home run overall with your website if you stick to the basics. That means writing about every facet of your industry you can think of. That means getting in and thinking about whatever it is that you do.

For example. If you own a repair shop, it might be a good day to write about how much time your company spends cleaning the shop. Or to write about how much goes into preparing each day just to do business. Or possibly writing about how long it takes to get a new product or service ready to market to the public. And so on and so on and so on. It might seem mundane to you, but it might just be the one factor that is important to that new reader thinking about buying.

The point is that you need to keep on writing. To win with a blog in the search engines you need a truckload of content. Diverse content. Content that covers the spectrum for you and your business. It won’t happen overnight. But it will happen if you stop trying to read minds and start writing about specific parts of your company and the way it does business.

Write about everything. Get that content flow going. In the end, your website will win the race.
