Business Blogging: Is This Thing On?
Business blogging sounds like a piece of cake in the beginning. But ask any company blog veteran that’s been at it for more than a few months and they might just tell you a different story.
Because maintaining a business blog is hard, for several different reasons.
First, it seems as if you could never run out of things to say about your company. But stare at the blank text editor day in and day out and you’ll soon find yourself at a loss for words. This happens quicker for employees than business owners, but even business owners are often stunned when a month or two into their blogging venture they find that they have absolutely nothing to write about.
Even worse is the feeling that you may not be accomplishing what you thought you would with your business blog. It’s a real bummer to write your blog every day and wonder if anybody is even reading what you have written. Sure, there are traffic statistics and other indicators that may tell you that you’ve got a following, but the empty comments sometimes give the writer a feeling that it’s all for nothing.
But it’s not all for nothing. Because yes, “this thing IS on”.
Writing and maintaining a business blog is important if you want to compete online. It’s almost a given that your competitors are blogging each and every day. Somehow they are coming up with new things to write about to keep the content coming. You need to do the same. Because that content is making a difference in the search engine result pages. It is making a difference to potential customers that are looking for your products or services. It is having an overall impact on your company and it’s level of authority in your respective field or industry.
You just may not see it.
It’s easy to fall into the complacency trap and feel as if your blog is a waste of precious time. That your time could be better spent promoting your business in other ways. But understand this. Having and maintaining a content filled company blog is the single most important and effective method of promoting your business online. If you don’t have the time or the energy to put into developing and maintaining that blog, hire a professional company, like us, to get that job done for you.
But don’t write it off. It’s far too important. Your company will feel the impact if you let your blog die due to apathy. Keep it going and see the blogging miracle happen in the long run.
It will come, if you work for it.
