Benefits of a blog
By now you have to have been living in a shack on the moon to not know what a blog is.
So you if you are reading this, you probably also have an idea that it might also be a powerful tool for your business as well. If so, you are absolutely correct.
A blog is nothing more than what you see here. It’s a part of a website that allows you to post new content to your site as often as you want to. Why is this important? Because search engines like to see a website grow. To see that it offers new content to users on a regular basis. With the advent of blogging software, this is possible for just about anyone.
In business, having an edge over your competitors is ALWAYS the key. If you have been in business for any amount of time, you already know this. To have survived the perils every new business withstands in the first years, you have to work extremely hard to get, and to keep, the edge.
The web is no different. There are likely a million or so websites offering the same service you provide, or selling the same or similar products that you sell. So putting together a 4 page wonder of a website among the millions that exist out there might not put you on page one of Google. Ya think?
Nope. You need an edge over your competitors to shine in the eyes of the algorithms. You need a blog.
A business blog allows you to consistently add fresh content to your site. Content that is relevant to what you sell or the service you provide. It sends a signal to those engines that your site is growing. When crawled, the spiders find new, relevant content. This in turn helps you in your overall search engine position, or search engine result pages (SERPS).
But it does more than that.
It provides a valuable resource for your users as well. Today’s web surfers are looking for confidence, looking for a reason to choose one site over another when making a purchase. They want to ‘get to know you’, if you will.
But how can they do that with the standard, four or five page website that tells them what you think they want to hear?
With a business blog, you become more of a person to them. More of a friend. More like someone they know. Someone they trust. And if they trust you, they will buy from you. That’s the bottom line.
So let your customers get to know you and your product. Let them know just how you provide that special service better than your competitor. Let them know you are the very best at what you do.
This is that edge you need over your competitors. This is how to get that edge.
